Abigail Doyle, BSc MISCP

Chartered Physiotherapist,Clinical Pilates Instructor | Schroth Best Practice Trainer

Hi, I am Abigail, lead physiotherapist and Founder of The Abbey Physiotherapy and Spine Centre.

I graduated with an honours degree in Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University. After graduation, I gained valuable experience covering my rotations in the UK, before returning to Ireland where I worked for 8 years in the highly regarded Ranelagh Physiotherapy Clinic with Ailbe McCormack, specialising in musculo-skeletal and sports injury physiotherapy. This is where I began to take a particular interest in using Pilates as an adjunct to 'hands-on' Physiotherapy.

I enjoy keeping up to date with the most current evidence in my field, ensuring I provide my clients with the best possible treatment for their condition.

I am also an accomplished sportswoman, playing for the Irish National Touch Rugby Squad for the past 10 years. I also represented Leinster on their women’s rugby team and won several national titles for pentathlon and heptathlon when I was younger. I am a seasoned marathon runner too!

Physio Experience

Over the past 18 years, I have furthered my education in spinal and joint manual therapy under the renowned Kim Robinson and Toby Hall in Australia. I also studied scoliosis management in Copenhagan under Dr. Hans Weiss and in Barcelona under Dr. Manuel Rigo. My clinical pilates studies were under Dani Gonzalez in Dublin.

I have worked with several professional sports teams through out my career, including the Irish Men’s U20s Cricket Team and the Irish women’s Cricket Team, Athletics Ireland, Irish Touch Rugby Teams and many local rugby and GAA clubs.

I have not only worked with sports professionals but also with some famous film directors and musicians.

Areas of Expertise

While working in private practice has allowed me to refine my manual therapy skills, it has also highlighted how essential is it to incorporate active rehab for long term recovery and the prevention of recurring issues.

I believe that using Clinical Pilates and movement classes as an adjunct to traditional hands-on physiotherapy has become a necessity for optimising full rehabilitation from spinal pathologies, sports injuries and postural dysfunctions, to name but a few.

Professional, evidence based practice using cutting edge & traditional assessment & rehabilitation tools & techniques.
